Would Not Be Moved
Six thousand years at Tsax̄is. A fort built for coal. A village shelled. A ceremony outlawed. And a carving knife that never stopped moving, passed down through one family to Hereditary Chief David Mungo Knox.
Long before Hudson's Bay Company ships anchored in Beaver Harbour, Tsax̄is was already home. Archaeological evidence places the Kwagu'ł here for over six thousand years: a village of cedar longhouses, carved poles, and more than twenty family lineages living along the shore. This is the story of what colonization did to that village, and how it never disappeared.
